Rowan of the Wood won the Indie Excellence Award for best YA Fiction!

Blue Moose Press is pleased to announce that authors Christine & Ethan Rose’s YA fantasy novel fiction novel Rowan of the Wood was honored as the winner in the YA fiction category of the prestigious 2009 National Indie Excellence Awards on Saturday, May 9, 2009.

Rowan of the Wood is about an ancient wizard who possesses a young boy after a millennium of imprisonment in a magic wand. He emerges from the child in the face of danger and discovers Fiana, his new bride from the past, has somehow survived time and become something evil.

Rowan of the Wood has recently undergone a change in publisher. The remaining few copies of the first edition are available from the authors’ website & Amazon.com. It is also available in various eBook formats, including the Kindle.

The National Indie Excellence Awards (NIEA) are designed to bring recognition to titles from independent publishers. The respected and prestigious awards program celebrates excellence in independent publishing. The competition is judged by an independent panel of experts from all aspects – editing, marketing, publicity, and design – of the publishing industry.

Founder Ellen Reid, a strong proponent of independent publishing, believes it is essential for smaller publishers and authors to have a prestigious platform to receive well-deserved recognition. “Why is it that in our world today, an independent film producer is a hero while an independent publisher is viewed as someone who couldn’t get a ‘real’ publisher to take on his or her project?
